Alroy Taai has a lifelong history of activism and youth development. He is a founding member of the Nemato Rowing Club. He served as Chief Whip of the ring party for 5 years and has been on the Board of Directors of Cacadu Development Agency since 2014 and currently serve as the Chairperson of the Board. He is a Senior Lecturer at Stenden South Africa  and is Coordinating the Municipal response  to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He is married with 2 children and lives in Port Alfred.
